The Luristan Archive

I am leading this project, which aims to explore and share images and other multimedia materials that record the life of the pastoral Beiranvand group of Luristan, north-western Iran, in the late 1970s.

Community Engagement, UNESCO World Heritage Site of Meroe, Sudan

From 2015 to 2019, I led UCL Qatar’s multi-million dollar Community Engagement project at the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Meroe, Sudan. This was one of the first Community Engagement projects to be undertaken in Sudan and certainly the most ambitious. During these four years we produced some amazing *free* educational materials in Arabic and English and I wanted to share them here.

Economics of Archaeology

From 2012 to 2017 I conducted a PhD on the economic impacts of archaeology in the Middle East and Africa, taking Sudan as a case-study. This page explores that theme a little more in-depth and suggests some further reading.
